i'm glad you're thinking that way, but it's so hard. I think we've been conditioned to believe that there's some kind of happy and satisfying ending to each part of our life - a perfect career, a soul mate (which we can look forward to having a family with, a perfect house, etc. And we invest all our time and energy into these things, and tend to just want to speed our way through everything leading up to them until we can achieve these and just let out a big sigh of relief.
I think too many people miss out on the little joys - I, for one, am completely relishing all of the thunderstorms that we have been having, partially because i know it will make everything look so green afterward. But anyway, I don't think there's anything wrong with looking forward to something, as it can remind us that we have not become stagnant, but perhaps people just need to be more open to the small things that can happen in between that make the waiting period fly by. (it also helps to note these little things so if the big event you were looking forward to was disappointing, there was all this good stuff in between to make up for it!)
I can't wait til you come home, and I hope your last couple weeks are wonderful :)
